Encounter with pictorial art
Your visit to the Cougnac Caves begins with the geological cave. Descend the steps leading to the heart of the hill to emerge into a vast chamber. In this first cave, discovered in 1949, admire the rich mineral vegetation.
In a second cave, discovered a few years later in 1952, lies one of the greatest treasures of cave art. Here you will find what are undoubtedly the oldest figurative drawings visible to the public, with others dating back between 18,000 and 20,000 years!
